getting to know me and what the blog will be about
Hi, my name is Riley, and I created this blog to share delicious recipes and to share how cooking can be a great outlet for emotions.
Here is a little bit of background on me and why I wanted to do this blog. Growing up I had been really interested and fascinated with cooking. I remember at a young age that I would watch my dad cook and be so intrigued of what he was doing and how he was preparing the meal. I started to ask my dad if I could help him and when I was able to help my face would light up with joy because I got to learn new skills. As I got older my dad trusted me more with helping him in the kitchen, so I got to do a lot more work than I did before hand and with this I realized that I really liked cooking. By a certain point I was able to tell what me and my dad needed more of, just by tasting the food.
Cooking has helped me build closer relationships to the people I love by sharing something that I love with them. My favorite thing is when I get to cook with people or for people because cooking is one of my love languages and it’s how I show people I appreciate them.
One of the great benefits that came out of cooking for me was being able to cope with my emotions in a healthy way. I have a really hard time asking people for help when I am not feeling okay emotionally and because of this I have an even harder time expressing my emotions. So, with cooking I get to express my emotions through food. Which has really helped me a lot. For example, a few years ago, I lost two people who were close to me. It was very sudden, and I never got the chance to say goodbye to them. It hit me hard, and cooking has helped me cope with it.

Some other background on me is I am very athletic, and I love to work out. I love going on hikes with my two dogs, Jagger, and Indigo. I am a huge lover of adventure and exploring new places and traveling. One of my favorite things to do is find hikes that have swimming holes. I really like to swim and paddle board. So, if a hike has a swimming hole it is a win, win because I get to hike and swim.
